After a community organizer disappears in a small Connecticut town, a friend searches for her when no one else will. The continuing disappearances lure three more town outsiders: a diner host, a mental health advocate, and a land surveyor. As these outsiders search for answers, they confront themselves and danger—including an eerie presence in the surrounding forest, mysterious town customs, and an abandoned schoolhouse at the edge of town.
